La Plata County may oppose land swap
Posted by egable on July 31st, 2007 filed in Forests, Public landsThe La Plata County Commission is considering a resolution today that would oppose a land exchange between the Forest Service and Tamarron Properties Inc. that has garnered opposition from local users of a popular recreation area south of Haviland Lake, the Durango Herald reported. Under the exchange, the Forest Service would trade the 265-acre parcel for two private properties in the San Juan National Forest. The commission is also considering writing a letter to the Forest Service expressing its concerns about the proposal.
