We are disheartened, worried, mentally abused, and physically sick!
Neither the Army nor the Politicans care what happens to us, they just play the game. Whoever the Defense contractors ply with enough money will ultimately rule that Pinon Canyon must be expanded and good, decent people who provide food for our nation will be living in refrigerator boxes along the highway.
Many people (especially in Colorado Springs) think that the ranchers involved will be getting tons of money from the Pentagon. The truth is that the amount speculated being offered will leave ranchers in the hole.
Most have conservation easements. If they fight for their God given, American promised right to keep their own land the institutions that hold those easements will get 70% of the money paid for condemnation. 35% goes to capital gains taxes and that’s before bank loans are paid.
Where will these people go? There is no talk of trading government held land in leiu of the ranch land wanted. These ranchers families have held the land since the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The average age is mid fifties with little social security. We as a nation treat foreigners better than the people who have lived here for generations paying taxes and sending sons to war.
Where is the voice of the American people?
Where is the voice of mainstream media?
THERE IS NO JUSTICE…ONLY GREED
