Posted by egable on August 29th, 2007 filed in Water, Energy developmentColorado state Sen. Josh Penry (R) said Monday that water consumption related to oil shale development remains a big unknown, but it is too early to speculate about how much water it will consume, the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported. Penry’s comments come in the wake of statements by Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.) that oil shale development could use up all the remaining unappropriated water in the Colorado River basin, a situation he called “unacceptable.”
