San Miguel seeks more wilderness
Posted by egable on September 17th, 2007 filed in WildernessSan Miguel County and local environmental groups are trying to get 60,000 acres in the county designated as wilderness through federal legislation, the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported yesterday. While some of the land is included in a wilderness bill recently introduced by Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), wilderness advocates are trying to get just the San Miguel lands designated because DeGette’s statewide wilderness bill doesn’t have much chance of passing Congress.
