Sudden aspen decline has claimed the lives of 10 percent of the iconic trees in the San Juan National Forest, and as many as 50 percent of the trees in some parts of Utah, but officials say there’s not much that can be done to stop the die-off. “The trees are dying, and there isn’t anything to do to stop that,” Jim Worrall of the Forest Service told the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel. “We don’t have any way to predict how far it could go.”
