Drill site inspection option rarely used in Garfield County

A relatively new state policy aimed at resolving conflicts between landowners and energy companies has rarely been used in Garfield County, a fact that Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission officials attribute to industry efforts to get surface-use agreements with landowners before drilling begins. The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reported that since the on-site inspection policy was instituted in 2005, requests for inspections have been made only four times. Statewide, 91 requests have been made, including 48 for locations in Weld County.
