Test wells planned for Baca National Wildlife Refuge

Canadian-based Lexam Explorations wants to drill test wells on Baca National Wildlife Refuge in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, the Colorado Springs Independent reports. The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission granted the energy company permission in April to drill two test wells on the refuge to a depth of 14,000 feet. Work is expected to begin this winter.
