Forest Service plans to reduce Cherry Creek grazing

The U.S. Forest Service wants to reduce grazing by as much as 28 percent on lands in the Cherry Creek drainage as part of an effort to protect the environment, according to the Durango Herald. A preliminary environmental assessment released Nov. 29 by the Dolores Public Lands Office outlines four options to manage grazing in the drainage, but the agency’s preferred alternative is aimed at protecting wetlands by curtailing grazing.
