Colorado to impose fees on conservation easements

A set of draft proposals headed for the Colorado Legislature would impose fees on conservation easements that qualify for state tax credits and license nonprofit land trusts that make the deals, the Denver Rocky Mountain News reports. The proposals are aimed at curbing abuses of a state law that grants generous tax credits to landowners who agree to protect their lands from development.
