Zebra mussels detected in Lake Pueblo

Two adult mussels and one immature specimen were found on substrate sampling gear as part of an effort to evaluate waters across Colorado for the presence of invasive species.
Additional sampling at Lake Pueblo State Park is planned for this winter and spring to determine the degree of infestation and exact mussel species.
The Pueblo Chieftain reported that it is the first confirmed case of the mollusks in Colorado.
