Mountain bikers criticize plan for southwestern Colorado’s public lands

The Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service’s joint travel plan for 2.4 million acres in southwestern Colorado recommends classifying 55,000 acres as wilderness, a move that has drawn criticism from mountain bikers who fear it will keep them off the trails, the Durango Herald reports. A public meeting about the plan is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Durango Community Recreation Center.
