Canadian companies to turn beetle-killed trees into fuel

The Department of Energy will pay $30 million of the $88-million cost of Canadian companies Lignol Innovations and Suncor Energy’s planned cellulosic ethanol plant, which would convert beetle-killed trees and other wood materials into fuel, the Denver Rocky Mountain News reports. The plant would be the first of its kind in Colorado.
