Public shut out of conserved lands

Just 2.7 percent of the 1.13 million acres protected by conservation easements are open to the public, according to a Denver Rocky Mountain News analysis of a new state database. Colorado has more lands under conservation easements than any other state besides Maine, where half of the lands are accessible to the public.
