CSU looks at birth control for wildlife

Colorado State University researchers are working to perfect two short-term birth control methods that may eventually be injected into wildlife to control overpopulation of animals such as elk, bison, deer and wild horses. One birth control method has been shown to be 100 percent effective in mule deer and elk for one breeding season, while the other is 75 percent to 90 percent effective for two to three years. Both methods can be administered by dart.
