Senate panel approves tax break for tree clearing

The Colorado Senate Finance Committee approved a tax bill yesterday that would provide a tax break for property owners who clear brush trees on their property in the name of fire prevention, sending it to the Appropriations Committee, the Durango Herald reports. The Legislature’s budget experts predict the bill would cost the state $411,000 next year and $822,000 the following, which could weaken support for the bill.
