Denver named a ‘Solar America City’

Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman named Denver and 11 other cities across the country “Solar America Cities” today at a conference in the Mile High City, committing the Energy Department to providing up to $2.4 million for projects aiming to make electricity from solar photovoltaics cost-competitive with conventional electricity by 2015. Combined with funding from industry and each city, total investment in all 12 cities is estimated to be $12.1 million.

The awards announced today build upon the $5.4 million in financial and technical assistance awarded to 13 Solar America Cities selected last year.
