Barrett water plant resisted

Bill Barrett Corp.’s plans to build a water treatment plant on a 280-acre ranch it owns outside of Silt have been temporarily halted because the Aspen Valley Land Trust, which owns an easement on the property, maintains that the plant would violate terms of the easement, the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports. The easement allows for mineral development on the property with certain restrictions, but the land trust contends that the water treatment plant isn’t allowed because it would treat wells beyond the ranch.
