People living near rigs at greater risk for cancer
Posted by egable on June 18th, 2008 filed in Energy developmentA two-year study of Garfield County residents has found that people who live close to oil and gas development are at greater risk for health problems and diseases such as cancer because of greater exposure to benzene, a known carcinogen that is released during drilling, the Glenwood Springs Post Independent reports. But the study also found that rapid natural gas development in Garfield County has not created a “health crisis.”
