Energy hearings begin today

Hundreds of people are expected to pack into the Paramount Theater in downtown Denver today as the state starts a series of hearings on its rules managing oil and gas development in Colorado, the Associated Press reports.

The nine-member oil and gas commission is expected to decide on the new rules by mid-August, according to the Durango Herald.
