$74M slated for Colorado energy, water projects
Posted by egable on July 10th, 2008 filed in Water, Renewable energyThe energy and water appropriations bill for fiscal year 2009, approved today by the Senate Appropriations Committee, includes $74.4 million for projects in and around Colorado.
The funding includes:
* $50 million for the Animas-La Plata water project ($9 million below the president’s request), which will provide water for 100,000 people in Colorado and New Mexico;
* $1 million for Colorado State University’s Smart Grid Simulation Lab;
* $2.42 million for operations and maintenance at the John Martin Reservoir, $1.29 million for the Trinidad Lake project, $1.5 million for the Chatfield Lake project and $1.2 million for the Cherry Creek Lake project;
* $15 million for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory; and
* $1.5 million for a carbon sequestration demonstration project.
