The Colorado Department of Wildlife’s “two strikes” nuisance policy, under which officials relocate bears after their first infraction and euthanize them after their second, has resulted in the euthanization of a record 11 “problem” bears between Basalt and Aspen this year, a record that has created an outcry in Aspen and caused DOW officials to rethink the policy, the Aspen Times reports.
